Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable operation of an engine for its entire operating range by computing a target valve-opening pressure from the engine operating condition, and conforming the detected injection pipe internal pressure to the target valve-opening pressure.
CONSTITUTION: The number of revolutions of an engine, a signal on a rack position of a fuel pump 3, temperature of engine cooling water, injection pipe internal pressure 16, a needle valve lift sensor signal 15 on an injection nozzle 4 are entered a congrol unit 13. A valve opening pressure is calculated from the number of revolutions and the signal on the rack position, and a target valve- opening pressure is determined by applying temperature correction to the said valve opening pressure Actual valve-opening pressure is calculated from the injection pipe internal pressure 16 and the lift sensor signal 15. After comparing these actual and target valve-opening pressure, a signal conforming the actual pressure to the target pressure is output to an electromagnetic valve 11 in order to adjust the valve opening angle as well as to regulate the oil pressure supply to a valve opening pressure regulating part 5. With this constitution, the engine can be operated steadily for its wide speed range.
