Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a simple analysis of amylase with high accuracy independently of the influence of a measurement hindering substance by installing the 2nd detector provided with an enzyme electrode capable of measuring the amount of maltose and glucose in a specimen behind the 1st detector provided with an enzyme electrode for measuring the amount of glucose in the specimen.
CONSTITUTION: When the activity of amylase in body fluid such as saliva or blood is measured, a substrate soln. from tank 1 filled with a buffer soln. contg. a substrate such as soluble starch for amylase is mixed with a specimen such as serum at a specimen injecting part, and the amount of glucose existing in the specimen is measured with the 1st detector 4 provided with fixed glucose oxidase film 12 and oxygen or H2O2 electrode 9. The amount of the glucose and glucose resulting from maltose produced from the substrate by decomposition with amylase in the specimen is then measured with the 2nd detector 5 provided with fixed α-glycosidase/glucose oxidase film 14 and electrode 9. The amount of amylase existing in the specimen is calculated from the difference in the amount of glucose between detectors 4, 5 with electronic device 7, and it is displayed in recording meter 8.
