Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a developer free from uneven latent images according to the exposure of nonimage parts by reciprocatively moving the one-component type magnetic developer in the gap of a predetermined size between a developing roller and a photosensitive drum opposing thereto by an alternating electric field.
CONSTITUTION: A gap between a developing roller 3 and a photosensitive drum 1 opposing thereto is so selected as to be larger than the adhered layer thickness of the one-component magnetic developer adhered to the roller 3. If a predetermined alternating magnetic field is generated by an alternating electric field applying means 8, the developer reciprocatively moves in the gap space. This causes the adhesion of the developer on the image part of the drum 1 to be increased by the reciprocating developing material without affected by the edge effect, and the uniform developing is accomplished irrespective of the uneven potentials of the image part. Hence, the good quality latent image by the exposure of the nonimage part is formed, and the exposure of the nonimage part is performed with small quantity of light.
