Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a development unit to securely replenish a one-component magnetic toner, to have simple structure, and to obtain always high quality images, by coating a developing roller with an elastic material, such as silicone rubber, and by feeding the toner with a magnetic roller. CONSTITUTION:One component toner T is successively scooped up by rotation of magnetic roller 6 in the rotation direction. Iron core 4 of developing roller 3 has magnetic poles opposite to that of roller 6 by induction, so toner T is attracted magnetically to the surface of roller 3. Even when the induced poles disappear on rotation of roller 3, toner T still attaches to the surface of roller 3 because of the surface energy of silicone rubber elastic layer 5. Toner T is regulated in thickness by doctor 7, and at the same time is friction charged to the opposite polarity. Thus, this unit permits toner replenishment to be ensured, its structure to be simple, and high quality images to be obtained.
