Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the probability to regard the noise as the character informa- tion and thus prevent the fault of the character recognizing function or the like, by giving the operation to the center position of each information read out within the reading range and then performing the character recognition only when the center position is within the printing range.
CONSTITUTION: Reading range R2 is set larger than printing range R1. Under such condition, the detection is given to the center position and the size of each informationread within the reading range through information position detecting circuit 1. And the center position is calculated with every information and at center position arithmetic circuit 2. This arithmetic result S2 is sent to read character deciding circuit 3. Then the information included in video signal S0 is decided as the character information only when the center position is within the printing range R1. And signal S3 is sent to character recognizing circuit 7 to perform the character recognition.
