Abstract
PURPOSE:To interchange data by permitting one station to make direct connections with many stations by carriers of plural electric signals without regenerative repeating, by making use of broad band characteristics and low-loss characteristics among plural stations connected by an optical fiber transmission line. CONSTITUTION:The light data way device consists of reference station 21 and local stations 22-2n distributed at respective points of ring-shaped optical fiber; transmission parts of respective stations are coupled with the optical fiber via light distributors 41-4n, and reception parts via light distributors 31-3n. At reference station 21, reference burst signal RB of frequency f0 from distributor 41 is converted into a light signal at t0n and transmitted and transmitted data DBI is modulated into a light signal, which is sent out by a carrier of frequency fi assigned to the party station, to which data is transmitted for time t1n allotted as its transmission time. Then, the local station receives the reference burst signal to determine its transmission time and also performs transmission by a carrier of frequency fj assigned to the transmission-destination station, so that respective stations will receive data of carriers assigned to them.
