Abstract

The product is hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst of Pd/C or the like at room temperature or at the boiling point of the solvent under a pressure of 2W50kg/cm2 to give 1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-benzyl-piperidino)-propanol-1 or its salt. The reaction is effected preferably in an inert solvent.
