Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled synthetic fiber, useful for a tire, and consisting of highly uniform filaments, by quenching multifilaments of a polymer extruded from a plurality of spinnerets separately, drawing the oiled filaments in a single drawing apparatus, and doubling and winding the drawn filaments.
CONSTITUTION: Synthetic polymer multifilaments 2 and 2', e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, extruded from two or more spinnerets 1 and 1' are, without doubling, quenched in heat insulating cylinders 3 and 3', quenching apparatus 4 and 4' and quench stacks 5 and 5', and oiled in oil applicators 6 and 6' on the surface. The filaments are then fed from collecting guides 7 and 7' and path adjusting rolls 9 into a drawing zone 8, drawn in the first drawing zone 14 between feed rolls 12 and draw rolls 13 and 13' and in the second drawing zone 16 between the draw rolls 13 and 13' and draw rolls 15 and 15', and then doubled in the relaxing zone 18 comprising a doubling guide 20, interlacing device 10 and relaxing rolls 17 and 17' to form a doubled yarn 10', which is wound by a winder 11.
