Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce leakage loss and to facilitate handling by collimating emitted light by connecting a lenslike medium to a fiber terminal and by reflecting the resulting light by a reflecting film perpendicular to it. CONSTITUTION:To an optical fiber 8, a rod lens 10, for example, is connected and over a plane perpendicular to the optical axis, a reflecting film 11 is provided. The length L of the rod lens 10 is adjusted properly to collimate the emitted light from the optical fiber 8, and consequently light reflected by the reflecting surface 11 is focused on the end surface of the optical fiber 8. Thus, leakage loss is reduced and the handling is facilitated.
