Abstract

PURPOSE:To record gradated pictures by making different the reference voltage of a converting circuit, which converts a video signal into a binary coded signal by comparing it with the reference voltage, every time one-line scanning is repeated. CONSTITUTION:Video signal V is supplied to comparing circuits CM1-CM3 having different reference voltages. Pin electrodes W of recording head H are arrayed in the paper feed direction and recording head H is made to scan at right angles to the paper feed direction. Through the frame scanning of head H, video signal V is compared with the reference voltage and the resulting binary coded signals are written in memory circuits M1-M8. The binary coded signals read out of circuits M1- M8 drive electrodes W. Once head H is returned to the initial position, switch circuit S selects comparing circuit CM2, whose binary coded signal is supplied to circuits M1-M8 to drive electrodes W like as mentioned above.
