Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a picture part by widening the band width of a color difference signal at the picture part, by positively mixing high frequency components of a luminance signal according to the magnitude of the color difference signal. CONSTITUTION:Luminance signal Y' from luminance signal source 12 and color difference signal C'-Y' from color difference signal source 11 are inputted to color resolution improving circuit 13, which applies corrected color difference signal C''- Y'' to adder 15. Luminance signal Y' passed through delay circuit 14 is applied to this adder 15, whose output is displayed on display device 16. This circuit 13 is provided with a circuit which extracts high frequency components of luminance signal Y' and further only the positive-directional output of the high frequency components, by making the output into a prescribed output, and by multiplaying it by the signal that corresponds to the input of color difference signal C'-Y' to output a corrected signal. Then, high frequency components of the luminance signal are positively mixed according to the magnitude of the color difference signal at a picture part to improve the resolution of the picture part.
