Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively and efficiently remove water and fine contaminants in a low-grade fuel oil, by providing two filters in two stages at two points, i.e., a point between a fuel oil settling tank and a fuel oil service tank, and a point after the fuel service tank.
CONSTITUTION: The primary filter 18 is provided between the fuel oil settling tank 1 which is used for maintaining the temperature of a low-grade fuel oil for internal combustion at about 80W85°C, and the fuel service tank which is used for maintaining the temperature of the fuel oil at about 130W150°C. This filter is equipped with a heat- resistant (about 100°C) vinyl sponge filter medium, filtration performance thereof is about 3μ in diameter, which roughly cleans contaminants of about 3μ in diameter. At downstream of the fuel oil service tank 11, the sencondary filter 41 is provided. This filter 41 is equipped with a heat-resistant (about 200°C) teflon type filter medium which can filter particles of about 1μ in diameter and which filters intermediate contaminants of 1μ or larger in diameter. The filtered fuel is fed to an internal combustion engine. In addition, each of the filters 18 and 41 is equipped with a by-pass 27 or 53, so that the shut-down of either one of the filters 18 or 41 for cleaning can be carried out without obstruction.
