Abstract

PURPOSE: To make easier the reductive regeneration of desulfurizing agent as well as perform desulfurization effectively by using as a desulfurizing agent barium oxide carried on a heat-resistant porous support.
CONSTITUTION: A desulfurizing agent, obtained by supporting barium oxide on a heat-resistant porous support, e.g., alumina, etc., is added to a combustor for a sulfur-containing fuel in order to perform the desulfurization of the exhaust gas formed in the combustion of the foregoing fuel preferably in the reaction temperature range of 700W1100°C. Afterwards, the used desulfurizing agent is reduced regenerated in the presence of one or more of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and methane in a reaction temperature range of 750W1100°C, and then recyled to the foregoing combustor for reuse.
