A method and its corresponding apparatus for the regeneration of a fluidized catalyst where the exhausted cracking catalyst, contaminated with coke, is regenerated by combustion of the coke at elevated temperature, with a regeneration gas containing molecular oxygen, to produce a regenerated catalyst and combustion gases comprising carbon oxides.
