Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to perform suitable signal processing, by discriminating the video signal obtained through scanning of original video whether it is in binary picture or contrast picture.
CONSTITUTION: The input picture read in with original scanning is converted into electric signal at the image sensor 2 and stored in the buffer memory 4 via the A/D converter 3. In the memory 4, the concentration level of each video element of specific video element areas m×n is stored which takes the noticed video element X. The operator 5 operates the state of distribution of the concentration level frequency every concentration level for the video element in this area and stores it in the memory 6. Sumultaneously, the operator 5 suitably processes the content of the memory 6 and the discrimination circuit 7 indicates it to the operator unit 8 whether the video element X is in binary picture or contrast picture based on the result of processing. The operator unit 8 and the processing circuit 9 suitably process the data of video element X in the memory 4 and transmit it to the plotter or transmission line.
