Abstract

PURPOSE: To markedly improve the forming property of thin steel plates by increasing the initial (No. 1 and No. 2 stands) drafts of tandem rolling.
CONSTITUTION: At the time tandem-cold-rolling the thin steel plates of JIS G 3141, G 3302, etc. at total drafts of 70 to 80%, the No. 1 stand draft is made 35% or higher or the mean draft of the No. 1 and No. 2 stands is made 40% or higher. The draft of the No. 1 stand and the forming property of the thin steel plate have a good correlation. At above 30%, the elongation of the thin steel plate improves and further its lankford value improves as well. In addition, there is also a good correlation between the mean draft of the No. 1 and No. 2 stands and the forming property of the thin steel plate. At above 35% of the mean draft, the forming property sharply improves. As the draft of the No. 1 stand or the mean draft of the No. 1 and No. 2 stands is made larger, the material quality will be better and therefore their upper limit is not specified.
