Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the high oxidation stability of the magnetic powder by effecting the wetting treatment of the powder by organic solvent containing polyphosphazene and covering the powder surface with phosphazene by evaporating treatment of the solvent in non-oxidizing gas.
CONSTITUTION: Polyphosphazene is dissolved in the ethanol to adjust the solution and then magnetic metallic powder having such magnetic characteristics like particle diameter of 0.3μm, axis ratio of 7, saturated magnetizing amount of 160emu/g and coercive force of 1080oersted, is dispersed here to the abovementioned solution and agitated sufficiently and filtrated. Next, the solution is heated at 150°C in the nitrogen gas atmosphere during 6hours so as to evaporate the ethanol for removal. By doing so, saturated magnetizing amount and max. residual flux density are elevated and that the maintemence ratio even when leaving in the air reduces little. After that, using the powder the magnetic tape composing of polyester film can be made.
