Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the gamma correction by compounding the red, green and blue signals plus the mean value signal of these color signals via the white, Cyan and yellow beam components each and then using the mean value signal for the control signal of the gamma correction. CONSTITUTION:White signal W, yellow signal Ye and cyan signal Cy are supplied to matrix circuit 4 from input terminals 1, 2 and 3. And the compounding is given among luminance signal Y, two types of color difference signals R-Y and B-Y, red signal R, green signal G and blue signal B respectively. Signal Y is supplied to mixer 8 via gamma correction circuit 5. Signals R-Y and B-Y are turned into the chrominance signals through modulator 6 to be transmitted to gain controller 9. Signals R, G and B are turned into the mean value signals through mean vlaue compounder 7, converted into the correction signal for gamma correction via polarity inverter 10, made equal to the chrominance signal when the gamma correction is given at controller 9, and then mixed with signal Y at mixer 8. Thus the color TV signals are compounded to be transmitted through output terminal 11.
