Abstract
PURPOSE:To couple an optical fiber and a photoreceiving unit effectively without involving a troublesome opration for adjustment by fitting a convexity in a concavity and fixing the optical fiber in a groove. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceiving unit 2 in which a photoelectric conversion function is incorporated and a V-groove 4 provided linearly toward the photoreceiving unit are formed on an Si substrate 1. These are given in a constant relation for position. Further, a prism 5 is provided on the substrate 1 so as to cover the photoreceiving unit 2, and a rectangular part and an end of the groove 4 are aligned. then, a convexity 7 to fit in the groove 4 is formed on the bottom of a rectangular support member 6 of Si, and a V-groove 9 to fix an optical fiber therein is provided on the top correspondingly to the convexity. According to this constitution, since the support member 6 is fixed on the semiconductor substrate 1, a light coming out of the optical fiber 8 fixed in the groove 9 is led efficiently to the photoreceiving unit 2, and thus a troublesome operation for adjustment is not necessitated.
