Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to build in a general VTR, etc., a converter which can correct automatically the phase jump of a carrier occurring due to an absence of a horizontal period and a double reading and then make the phase of the obtained chrominance subcarrier continuous, by miniaturizing the constitution.
CONSTITUTION: To convert the 1st PAL and SECAM system color video signals into the 2nd NTSC system color video signals, the 1st video signal from VTR having two helical scan type rotary heads is applied to input terminal 10 and sequentially written to the memory with the number of horizontal scans converted by line-number converter circuit part 11. Then, frequency converter circuit part 12 converts the signal into the 2nd system carrier frequency signal by mixing the frequency signal from oscillator 13 with the low-frequency carrier from circuit part 11. At this time, phase correction circuit 14 corrects the phase of the signal from oscillator 13 by a signal from terminal 16 corresponding to the absence or double read at point in time when the absence or double reading occurs, thereby outputing a continuous signal to output terminal 15.
