Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a reproduced picture to reduce beat (moire), by using effectively luminance signal components included in the chrominance signal band. CONSTITUTION:The horizontal synchronizing signal separated by a horizontal synchronizing separator 22 is divided by a 1/4 frequency divider 30, and one pulse is obtained for every four horizontal synchronizing signals and is supplied to a phase comparator 23 and a pilot gate pulse generator 31. The output of a local oscillator 7'' is supplied to not only a frequency converter 6 but also a 1/(4n-1) frequency divider 32. The comparator 23 compares the phase of the signal from the frequency divider 30 with that of the signal from the frequency divider 32 to control the oscillation of the oscillator 7''. The pulse of the generator 31 is supplied to a gate circuit 33 to gate the signal from an oscillator 34 and generates one pilot signal for every four horizontal synchronizing signals. This pilot signal is mixed with the signal of the chrominance signal band by a mixer 35 and is inserted in the position before or after the color burst signal.
