Abstract

PURPOSE: To expand a picture "n" times without lowering brightness and vertical resolution by increasing a horizontal deflection frequency "n" times while increasing variation in current at a fixed part of vertical deflection "n" times, by supplying luminance signals and signals which lags behind luminance signals at fixed intervals to a picture tube sequentially.

CONSTITUTION: Luminance signal Sy from detection circuit 3 is supplied via synchronous separator circuit 51 and differentiating circuit 31 to variable delay circuit 61 provided to horizontal deflecting circuit 30 to generate pulses for expansion, and a signal of frequency "n" times is generated by delay circuit 62 and supplied to AFC circuit 32. Further, luminance signal Sy from circuit 3 is delayed by 1/nH by delay circuit 22 and applied to switch circuit 21 and signals, obtained by delaying the luminance signal by approximate 1/n, 2/n... by the signals from circuit 30, are supplied to picture tube 5. Then, vertical synchronizing pulses are supplied via differentiating circuit 41 to variable delay circuit 63 for fixed-time delay and the current variation is increased "n" times by vertical output circuit 45 provided to vertical deflecting circuit 40 before a part to be expanded is supplied to picture tube 5.
