Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need of normalization when converting a unit system by shortening the needed time with improved arithmetic accuracy, by introducing CORDIC to the computing principle of a trigonometric-function value of a N-scale computer.
CONSTITUTION: In order to find a cotangent, for example, a desirable value is stored in register X. A table is provided for the operation of CORDIC, its numerals are stored in register Y in sequence, and the execution of X-Y→X is done at every time. The number of times is counted by register Z. When borrowing is required in the execution of X-Y, the execution of X+Y is made. Denoting an angle by θ, Yn/xn is equal logically to tan(θ-Zn) after the execution is done (n) times and Zn approximates to θ as the numeral read out from the table becomes smaller. Other trigonometric-function values can be obtained by transforming the cotangent. Values can be obtained easily by preparing a numeral table as to needed unit systems as a table.
