Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card with a magnetic stripe wherein productivity and economic performance are excellent and surface protection and a printing characteristic are improved by providing a surface printing layer beforehand on the back side of a transparent film stuck to the surface side of a card board. SOLUTION: A magnetic stripe 6 is stuck by an adhesive 7 to the surface of a thin square card board 1 made of a synthetic resin plate and a back surface printing layer 3 is formed on its back surface. A transparent film 5 is stuck thereto by an adhesive 10 for protecting the back surface printing layer 3. On the other hand, on the surface of the card board 1 stuck with the magnetic stripe 6, a surface printing layer 2 is formed on the rear of a transparent film 4 beforehand, then the transparent film 4 is stuck via an adhesive 9 and the magnetic stripe 6 is covered and protected. Thus, the difficulty of printing and unprinted portions caused by the level difference of the magnetic stripe 6 are eliminated and surface printing is performed easily, uniformly and accurately.

【従来の技術】従来、一般的に用いられている磁気スト

るカード基板、2・3はカード基板1の表裏両面にそれ

6は磁気ストライプで、各種情報を入力した磁気テープ
を表面側の透明フィルム4の上に貼り付けてある。これ
ら表裏面印刷層2・3を有するカード基板1、透明フィ
ルム4・5、および磁気ストライプ6は重合一体化した
後、所定寸法に打ち抜かれたラミネート構造をとってい
る。図6はこの磁気ストライプ付きのクレジットカード
の重合一体化の工程を示す。その重合一体化に際して
は、予め磁気ストライプ6と透明フィルム4・5のそれ
ぞれに熱圧着型の接着剤7・9・10を塗布しておき、
表裏面印刷層2・3を形成したカード基板1を挟み、加
熱、加圧する方法が採られる。図6において、12は熱
を加える方向、13は圧力を加える方向を示す。

来の磁気ストライプ付きカードでは、磁気ストライプ6
が表面に露出しているため、表面印刷に際し磁気ストラ
イプ6の存在により文字、意匠等の印刷自由度が制限さ
れ、また磁気ストライプ6の保護に欠けるという問題が
ある。そこで、最近ではカード基板1の表面に磁気スト
ライプ6の表面をも含めてこの上に印刷を施して表面印
刷層2を形成する隠蔽型クレジットカードが出現してい
る。図7にこの隠蔽型クレジットカードの断面図を示す
が、これでは均一な印刷を施すことが困難であるという
問題がある。すなわち、カード基板1の上に厚み30μ
m程度の磁気ストライプ6を貼り付けると、どうしても
段差11が生じてしまう。他方、カード基板1および磁
気ストライプ6の表面上に印刷を施す場合、一般的なス
クリーン印刷法を採ってもその厚みは数十μmである。
このため、均一な印刷を施すことは段差11の存在によ
り困難であり、また段差11部分で印刷欠けが生じす
い。こうした問題を改善するためにプレス等によって表
面を均一化する加工方法もあるが、これでは加工工数が
増えて生産性が低下し、また加工コスト高となり経済的
に不利である。
