る。(Prior art and its problems) Conventionally, many cards such as identification cards, driver's licenses, membership cards, etc. have been used, and these cards record various information that reveals the identity of the owner. There is. Particularly in ID cards and the like, facial photograph images are important as well as character and symbol information such as address, name, and barcode. The classic method of attaching facial photographs to various cards is to attach the facial photograph to a predetermined part of the card base material using adhesive, but this method is extremely complicated to operate. Additionally, there are problems in that the surface of the card becomes uneven and loses its smoothness, and furthermore, it is easy to falsify or forge by replacing the face photo. As a way to solve the drawbacks of the above method of pasting facial photos,
An image forming method using a sublimation transfer method has been developed. In this sublimation transfer method, a sublimation type thermal transfer sheet, which has a layer containing a dye that can be sublimated transferred by heat on the surface of a base film, is placed on a card base material, and then heated from the back side of the sublimation transfer sheet with a thermal head to create a card. It has the advantage that facial photographs can be reproduced on the base material and various characters can be printed at the same time, and these characters can also be formed using a hot-melt ink type thermal transfer method, both of which can be carried out using a simple thermal transfer printer.

It cannot be completely ruled out that the protective layer may be removed by solvents, acids, groups, etc., and facial photographs and other information may be tampered with or forged. As a method of eliminating the above-mentioned imperfections, it is known to form a background pattern on the surface of the card base material using ultraviolet curable ink (see Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 170084/1984). When using this method, take care to avoid any inconvenience in printing the face, etc. or forming the protective layer.
The second problem is that it is necessary to print the pattern very thinly, and it is not possible to form a ground pattern with excellent abrasion resistance. Furthermore, when a tint pattern is formed on the entire surface of the card base material, sublimation dyes are difficult to dye onto the crest print layer, and there is a problem that the information formed on the number, especially the facial photograph, becomes a mottled pattern. Therefore, if you print out only the forming area of a facial photo, etc., the consistency between the background pattern and the facial photo, etc. will be poor, and areas without a background pattern will appear around the facial photo, etc., or the facial photo, etc. and the background pattern will overlap. There are problems such as the edges of the face photo becoming unclear.

It does not interfere with the surface smoothness of the layer. Furthermore, even if a background pattern bar is formed on the entire surface of the card base material and an image such as a photograph of a face is formed on it, the image such as a photograph of a face will not be disturbed due to poor dye transfer. Also, post the background pattern along with images such as facial photos:
Since they are formed using a viewer-controlled printer, both can be formed at the same time, and there are no problems with their consistency. (Preferred Embodiments) Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail by citing preferred embodiments. The card of the present invention has a background pattern 2 and a face photograph 3 on the surface of a card base material 1 by a sublimation transfer method, and characters 4 etc. by an arbitrary method, as shown in FIG. Prestigious,
Furthermore, if necessary, a transparent protective layer 6 is provided on at least a part of the surface of the information on the cart, with a recording layer 5 interposed therebetween as necessary. The card base glaze used in the above card of the present invention may be made of conventionally known polyester, divinyl chloride, or It may be made of resin, metal, etc., but is not particularly limited.

This example shows a structure in which transparent polyvinyl chloride layers 8.8 degrees are laminated on both sides of a center core 7 made of polyvinyl chloride containing a white pigment. At least the transparent vinyl chloride layer 8, which is the image-forming surface, contains an appropriate amount of plasticizer to improve the dye stainability. The preferable range of the amount of these plasticizers is 0.1 to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride forming the dye-receiving surface 8.
Parts by weight, and a particularly preferred range is 3 to 5 parts by weight. If the amount of plasticizer used is too small, the dyeability for sublimation dyes will be insufficient, and abnormal transfer will occur where the dye layer of the thermal transfer sheet is transferred as is during thermal transfer.
If the amount is too large, the dye-receiving surface will lack rigidity and become soft, and the printed image will bleed during storage, making it impossible to obtain a clear image, which is undesirable. The dye-receiving surface 8 may optionally contain colored pigments, white pigments, extender pigments, fillers, ultraviolet absorbers, antistatic agents, heat stabilizers, antioxidants, optical brighteners, etc. It can be done. Such a card base material l may have a necessary magnetic recording layer 9, an embossed pattern (not shown), other printed patterns, optical memory, IC memory, parcode, etc. formed on its surface in advance. However, these magnetic recording layers and the like may be provided after forming information such as a facial photograph using a sublimation transfer method or the like.

を形成した。The background pattern 2 and the face photograph 3 provided on the card base material 1 can be formed using a known sublimation type thermal transfer sheet according to a conventional method. In this case, the tint block 2 may be formed first, the face photograph 3 may be formed first, these may be formed simultaneously, these may be formed one on top of the other, or You can give it a shape without overlapping it. The form of the background pattern to be formed is not particularly limited, and may include fine lines, patterns, characters, figures, etc. At the same time, information such as characters can also be formed using a sublimation-type thermal transfer sheet, but it is preferable that the text information 4 is formed using a hot-melt ink-type thermal transfer sheet that is capable of high-density black printing. Of course, the ground pattern 2, face photo 3, and character information 4 may be formed using separate thermal transfer sheets, but they can be formed simultaneously using a composite thermal transfer sheet that has both a sublimable dye layer and a meltable ink layer. It is advantageous from a process standpoint to do so. Lamination of the protective layer 6 for improving the durability of the recorded information such as the above-mentioned face photograph can be carried out by applying and drying a transparent paint, laminating a transparent film, or further using a protective layer thermal transfer sheet. These protective layers 6 may be provided on the entire surface of the recorded information or may be provided on a portion thereof. Although these protective layers 6 may be provided in a separate process from the recording of each information, in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a sublimable dye layer of at least one color, a sublimable dye layer of at least one color is provided on the base film. By using a composite thermal transfer sheet consisting of a heat-fusible ink layer and a protective layer arranged side by side, background patterns, background patterns,
Gradation images such as face photographs and landscapes, monotonous images such as characters and symbols, and transparent protective layers can be simultaneously formed on the same thermal transfer sheet. (Effects) According to the present invention as described above, by forming at least both the ground pattern and the facial photograph using the sublimation transfer method, the ground pattern and the facial photograph are formed on the same plane, so that a protective layer can be formed thereon. In this case, the surface smoothness of the protective layer is not affected. Furthermore, even if a background pattern is formed on the entire surface of the card base material and a facial photograph is formed on it, the facial photograph will not be distorted due to poor dye transfer. Furthermore, since the background pattern and facial photograph can be created together with a computer-controlled printer, both can be created at the same time, and there will be no problem with their consistency. (Example) Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to Examples. In addition, parts or percentages in the text are based on weight unless otherwise specified. Example 1 Polyvinyl chloride containing about 10% of additives such as stabilizers (
A white card base material core (thickness: 0.2 m+s, size: 30 x 30 cm) was prepared from a composition of 100 parts of compound (degree of polymerization: 800) and 15 parts of white pigment (titanium oxide). Next, a transparent sheet (thickness 0.1
5ms+) was prepared and thermocompression bonded to both sides of the above white core to prepare a card base material used in the present invention. Three color inks containing three sublimable dyes with the following compositions were prepared. Yellow ink disperse dye (Macrolex Yellow 6G, manufactured by Bayer AG, C.I. Disperse Yellow
w 201) 5. 5 parts polyvinyl butyral resin (S-LEC BX-1. Sekisui Chemical)
4.5 parts Methyl ethyl ketone/toluene (weight ratio 1/1) 89.0 parts Magenta disperse dye (C.I.Dispers) as dye
Same as yellow ink except that eRed 60) was used. Cyan disperse dye (C.I.Solvent) is used as dye.
Same as yellow ink except that Blue63) was used.
A heat-resistant slip layer (1 μm thick) was formed on the back surface using the above ink composition by gravure coating, and an adhesion improving layer (0.5 μm thick) made of polyurethane resin was formed on the surface.
m) on the surface of a 4.5 μm thick polyester film, yellow, magenta and cyan were applied in the order of yellow, magenta and cyan to a width of 15 μm so that the coating amount was approximately 3 g/rrf.
A thermal transfer sheet containing sublimable dye layers of three colors was formed by repeatedly coating and drying the dye. After forming a fine lattice pattern on the entire surface of the card base using the cyan thermal transfer sheet, the sublimation thermal transfer sheet is further layered, and the electrical signals obtained by color-separating the facial photograph are applied. Apply thermal energy with connected thermal heads,
Sublimation transfer is performed in the order of cyan, magenta and yellow.
A full-color facial photograph was created. Next, apply a release layer ink having the following composition to the surface of the same polyester film as above at 1 g/rr based on solid content. A release layer was formed by coating and drying using a gravure coating method at a ratio of .

100 copies Next, a protective layer was transferred onto the surface of the facial photograph obtained above using the above protective layer thermal transfer sheet by a thermal transfer method to obtain a card of the present invention. If an attempt was made to remove the protective calendar from this card and modify the face photo, the minute background pattern would be destroyed at the same time, and since it would be difficult to restore this background pattern, it was virtually impossible to tamper with it. Example 2 In Example 1, a face photograph was first formed, and then a magenta background pattern was formed on the entire surface to form a card of the present invention. Example 3 In Example 1, a card of the present invention was obtained by forming a facial photograph and a background pattern simultaneously so as not to overlap.
