Conventionally, three methods are known for applying gold or silver designs to fabrics, etc., and the first is a method of directly printing onto the base fabric using gold or silver metallic powder ink. This method has the disadvantage that it is susceptible to rubbing and dry cleaning. In the second method, an aluminum vapor-deposited layer is provided on the support via a release layer, a transfer foil with a heat-adhesive resin layer formed thereon is placed on the base fabric, and the transfer is performed using heat and pressure to remove the support. This is a peeling method. This method has the disadvantage that it is susceptible to rubbing and dry cleaning because it uses a thermoadhesive resin. The third method is to transfer a transfer foil comprising an aluminum vapor-deposited layer on a support via a release layer onto a base fabric coated with an adhesive in advance, and then peel off the support. However, in this method, the transferred portion of the vapor deposited layer becomes hard and is susceptible to dry cleaning.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and involves partially applying an adhesive to the surface of a transfer foil in which an aluminum vapor-deposited layer is provided on a support film via a release layer, using a dry laminating machine. The method is characterized in that the solvent in the adhesive is dried and the base fabrics are layered and adhered while the adhesive has sufficient adhesive strength, and then the supporting film is peeled off to partially transfer the aluminum vapor deposited layer. This is a metal color painting method, and a transfer foil having a coloring agent layer on a release layer together with an aluminum vapor-deposited layer can also be used. A colorant layer is usually provided between the release layer and the vapor deposited layer, and the vapor deposited layer becomes visible through the colorant layer after transfer.

Adhesive 5 is applied onto this transfer foil immediately before transfer. The coating is carried out using a dry laminating machine, and after the coating, the solvent of the adhesive 5 is continuously dried, polymerized with the base fabric 6, and transferred. Adhesive 5 is a two-component polyurethane adhesive that generates adhesive strength through the reaction between polyisocyanate and a compound having two or more active hydrogen atoms, and as a compound having two or more active hydrogen atoms, Polyester-based, acrylic-based, and ether-based materials can be used. The adhesive 5 is applied partially, that is, in a desired pattern shape, and is preferably applied using a gravure cylinder having a plate depth of about 100 μm.

After the transfer foil is superimposed on the base cloth 6 and sufficiently adhered, the support film 1 is peeled off. The base fabric 6 may be woven or knitted fabrics made of natural fibers, synthetic fibers, or blends thereof.
Mixed woven products, mixed twisted products, non-woven fabrics, flocked fabrics, etc. can be used. FIG. 2 shows the base fabric 6 after the support film 1 has been peeled off after the transfer. Regarding the colored layer 3 and the vapor deposited layer 4, only the portion coated with the adhesive layer 5 is transferred to the base fabric 6, and the other portions remain on the support film.
