Therefore, in a conventional audio device in which an audio signal from an audio device is amplified by an amplifier to drive a speaker, it may be necessary to perform sound quality adjustment or volume adjustment. However, each time the selection among a plurality of audio devices is changed, it is necessary to manually set the frequency characteristics, resulting in a problem of poor operability.

Thereafter, it is determined whether any of the level adjustment keys have been operated (step 54), and if a level adjustment key has been operated, the level adjustment operation is started (step 5).
5). In the level adjustment operation, the level of the frequency band of the operated level adjustment key is changed according to the operation in the frequency characteristics read out as data in step 51, and the above-mentioned video data signal corresponding to the change is created and output. . That is, a video data signal indicating on/off data for each dot of the display 18 is created. Therefore, indicator 1
8 displays the frequency characteristics whose level has been changed in accordance with the operation of the level adjustment key. If the level adjustment key has not been operated, or if the level adjustment operation has been completed, it is determined whether any of the function specification keys have been operated (step 56), and if any of the function specification keys has been operated. If so, the frequency characteristics displayed on the display 18 are written as data in the storage area corresponding to the operated function designation key (step 57).
), the display of the frequency characteristics on the display 18 is ended (step 58). For example, when the tape designation key is operated, the frequency characteristic data displayed on the display 18 is written as C1. If none of the function designation keys have been operated, it is determined whether or not a reset is to be performed (step 59). For example, if a key other than each function designation key and level adjustment key is operated, it is determined that a reset is to be performed and this characteristic setting operation is ended.

A switching command is issued to the function changeover switch 4 to switch the selection position so as to relay the audio signal from the audio equipment designated by the operated function designation key (step 61), and the designated audio equipment is (step 62), and outputs the read frequency characteristic data to the equalizer amplifier 6 via the interface 15 (step 63).

Therefore, even if the output level and frequency characteristics of the audio signal differ each time the selection of audio equipment is switched, the playback frequency characteristics of the audio signal from the audio equipment selected by the audio equipment selection operation can also be changed to the desired characteristics. Therefore, there is no need to manually adjust the sound quality, and operability can be improved.
