【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、CC/PP を利用してサーバから端末（通信端末装置）にコンテンツを提供する情報提供システムに関し、CC/PP に対応していない端末からの要求に対してもコンテンツを提供することを可能にするためのCC/PP 変換機能を備えた情報提供システムおよびCC/PP 変換方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
ネットワークに有線あるいは無線により接続された通信端末に対して、所定のサーバよりCC/PP （Composite Capabilities/Preference Profilesの略）を利用して各種情報を提供する情報提供システムが利用されている。このようなシステムは、例えば特開２０００−２２２４９１号公報、特開２００１−３４４１９６号公報にも開示されている。CC/PP は、ユーザの端末情報取得処理方法で、端末のハードウェアやソフトウェアの情報をコンテンツを提供するサーバに伝えるためのフレームワークである。CC/PP 記述のボキャブラリには、例えば、「端末ディスプレイのカラー表示の可否」、「端末ディスプレイのサイズ」などがある。

CC/PP は現在標準化が進んでいるが、未だ対応していない端末も数多く存在する。このような過渡期における、CC/PP を利用するシステムにおいて、CC/PP に対応していない端末からの要求が発生すると、従来のシステムではその未対応端末に対する処理を行うことができない。

また、CC/PP Exchange Protocol では、CC/PP をHTTPを用いて交換するためのプロトコルを規定している。端末は、自分自身のCC/PP 記述を格納したリポジトリのURI をProfile ヘッダフィールドに含めて、HTTPリクエストを送信する。受信したサーバは、指定されたリポジトリから、実際のCC/PP 記述を取得する。然しながら、端末からのHTTPリクエストに、Profile ヘッダが含まれていない場合の処理についてはCC/PP Exchange Protocol では規定されておらず、リクエストを処理するサーバが、独自の対応を行う必要があった。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
本発明は、上記問題点に対処すべくなされたもので、CC/PP を利用する情報提供システムにおいて、CC/PP 未対応端末からの要求に対しても処理することができるようにした情報提供システムおよびそのためのCC/PP 変換方法を提供することを目的としたものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
課題解決のため、請求項１に記載の発明では、インターネット等の外部通信網に接続されたクライアント装置と、このクライアント装置に無線あるいは有線で接続された複数の端末とを有し、CC/PP (Composite Capability/Preference Profiles)を用いる情報提供システムにおいて、前記クライアント装置に接続されたCC/PP選択装置を設ける。

前記クライアント装置はCC/PP未対応端末からリクエストを受信すると、CC/PP記述要求を前記CC/PP選択装置へ送信する。前記CC/PP選択装置は、予め作成されたCC/PP記述と、リクエストのヘッダ情報項目と対応付けたCC/PP記述内の項目である予め登録されたCC/PP記述情報と、デフォルトCC/PP記述と、をそれぞれ格納する格納手段と、前記CC/PP未対応端末に対応する予め作成されたCC/PP記述があれば、そのCC/PP記述を前記クライアント装置へ返し、前記予め作成されたCC/PP記述がなければ、前記CC/PP記述要求のリクエストのヘッダ情報項目を用いて検索されたCC/PP記述情報を用いてCC/PP記述を生成して前記クライアント装置へ返し、前記登録されたCC/PP記述情報がなければ、デフォルトCC/PP記述を前記クライアント装置へ返す選択手段と、を有する。

請求項２に記載の発明では、請求項２の情報提供システムにおいて、前記CC/PP 選択装置の前記格納手段は、予め知られているCC/PP未対応端末に対応したCC/PP記述を格納した第１データベースと、リクエストのヘッダ情報項目とCC/PP記述内の項目との対応テーブルをCC/PP未対応端末に対応付けて格納する第２データベースと、を有し、前記選択手段は、前記リクエストの発信元のCC/PP未対応端末に対応する予め作成されたCC/PP記述が前記第１データベースにあれば当該CC/PP記述を前記クライアント装置へ返し、前記予め作成されたCC/PP記述がなく、かつ、対応するテーブルが前記第２データベースにあれば、当該テーブルを用いて前記CC/PP記述要求の前記リクエストのヘッダ情報項目に対応するCC/PP記述内の項目からなるCC/PP記述を生成し前記クライアント装置へ返し、前記対応するテーブルがなければ前記デフォルトCC/PP記述を前記クライアント装置へ返す。

請求項４に記載の本発明のCC/PP 変換方法は、インターネット等の外部通信網に接続されたクライアント装置と、このクライアント装置に無線あるいは有線で接続された複数の端末とを有し、CC/PP (Composite Capability/Preference Profiles)を用いる情報提供システムにおけるCC/PP変換方法であって、前記情報提供システムに前記クライアント装置と接続されたCC/PP選択装置を設け、前記クライアント装置はCC/PP未対応端末からリクエストを受信すると、CC/PP記述要求を前記CC/PP選択装置へ送信し、前記CC/PP選択装置は、予め作成されたCC/PP記述と、リクエストのヘッダ情報項目と対応付けたCC/PP記述内の項目であるCC/PP記述情報と、デフォルトCC/PP記述と、をそれぞれ格納しており、前記CC/PP未対応端末に対応する予め作成されたCC/PP記述があれば、そのCC/PP記述を前記クライアント装置へ返し、前記予め作成されたCC/PP記述がなければ、前記CC/PP記述要求のリクエストのヘッダ情報項目を用いて検索されたCC/PP記述情報を用いてCC/PP記述を生成して前記クライアント装置へ返し、前記登録されたCC/PP記述情報がなければ、デフォルトCC/PP記述を前記クライアント装置へ返す、ことを特徴とする。

本発明では、例えばCC/PP 選択装置部分において、システム管理者が端末毎のCC/PP 記述を用意、または、端末のHTTPヘッダからCC/PP 記述を生成してシステムで利用できるように設定できるため、CC/PP 未対応端末のCC/PP 記述を送信できるようになる。なお、本発明では、CC/PP 記述を利用する個々の装置に対し、CC/PP 未対応の端末に関する処理を追加する必要がない。

【発明の実施の形態】
〔実施例〕以下、本発明につき実施例を挙げ図面を参照して詳細に説明する。図１は、CC/PP 選択システムを含み構成された本発明に係るネットワークシステムの一実施例を示す概略構成図である。

図１の実施例システムは、外部通信網としてのインターネット500 に接続され、既知のクライアント装置としての機能に加えてコンテンツ変換機能部を備えたクライアント装置300 と、このクライアント装置300 と通信可能に接続されたCC/PP 選択装置400 、そしてクライアント装置300 に無線あるいは有線で接続された複数の通信端末装置（以下、単に端末とも記載する）とからなる情報提供システムである。

上記通信端末装置群は、CC/PP 記述に対応している端末（CC/PP 対応端末A,B,C,…）と、CC/PP 記述に少なくとも完全には対応していない端末（CC/PP 未対応端末A,B,C,…）とがある。以下の説明では、CC/PP 対応端末をその種類に応じてCC/PP 対応端末100A,100B,100C, …と表す。図１では、クライアント装置300 に有線接続されたCC/PP 対応端末100Aのｍ個目のCC/PP 対応端末100Am のみが図示してある。同様にして、クライアント装置300 に無線接続（所定の中間装置・経路等は図示省略）されたCC/PP 未対応端末200Aのｎ個目のCC/PP 未対応端末200An のみが図示してある。

本実施例では、個々の端末は既知のもので良く、説明を省略する。また、インターネット500 およびインターネット500 を介して本実施例のクライアント装置に関わる各種装置は、既知技術によりCC/PP 記述に対応しているものとしそれらの説明を省略する。

前記クライアント装置300 は、リクエストを要求する端末に対するCC/PP 記述の要求をCC/PP 選択装置400 に送信し、CC/PP 記述を受信するシステム装置である。クライアント装置300 は、周知のクライアント装置としての動作を行う他、CC/PP 未対応端末からのリクエストを受信した場合にはコンテンツ変換機能によって、不足情報を補って通常のCC/PP の処理方法に従った処理を行うことができるようにする機能を備えており、この際に後で詳述するように前記CC/PP 選択装置400 の助けを借りる。

CC/PP 選択装置400 は、前記クライアント装置300 のコンテンツ変換機能と協働してコンテンツ変換システムを構成している。CC/PP 選択装置400 では、クライアント装置からCC/PP 記述の要求を受信し、CC/PP 記述をクライアント装置に返却する。図１を参照すると、CC/PP 選択装置400 は、CC/PP 選択部401 、第１のデータベースとしてのシステム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 、第２のデータベースとしてのHTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目マッピングデータベース403 、デフォルトCC/PP 記述404 を含み構成されている。

システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 には、管理者が作成した、予め分かっているCC/PP 未対応端末に対応したCC/PP 記述を格納しておく。格納するキーと値についての一例を図２(a) の表図.1に示す。なお、図２中の各表図、図３、図４における“Mozilla ”，“MSIE4.01”，“Windows NT”はそれぞれ登録商標である。デフォルトCC/PP 記述404 は、管理者が予め作成しておいたデフォルトのCC/PP 記述である。

HTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目マッピングデータベース（HTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目テーブルデータベース）403 には、HTTPヘッダの項目とCC-PP 記述内の項目とのテーブルをCC/PP 未対応端末のCC/PP 記述と対応付けて（マッピング）格納する。格納するキーと値( テーブル) についての一例を図２(b) の表図.2に示す。また、テーブルの一例を図２(c) の表図.3に示す。

次に、図１を参照して実施例システムの動作を説明する。図１の[1])〜[10]は、各要素間の情報信号の流れを示している。実施例のシステムではクライアント装置300 が、コンテンツ変換装置として動作する。

〔１：CC/PP 対応端末からのリクエストがあった場合〕
1-1. クライアント装置300 を利用するCC/PP 対応端末100Am が、クライアント装置300 にHTTPを用いてリクエストを送信する( 図１の[1])。このリクエストには、HTTPヘッダには、User-Agent情報とProfile ヘッダが含まれている。このような場合のHTTPヘッダの例を図３に示す。

1-2. 端末からHTTPリクエストを受信したクライアント装置300 は、通常のCC/PP の処理方法に従った処理を行う。リクエストのHTTPヘッダ内のProfile ヘッダフィールドの値(URI) に基づき、インターネット等の外部ネットワークから所望のCC/PP 記述を取得、または、HTTPヘッダ内のProfile-Diffヘッダフィールドの値として送信されたCC/PP 記述を取得して（図１[2],[3] ）所定のコンテンツ変換を行い、変換後のコンテンツをCC/PP 対応端末100Am に送信する（図１の[4] ）。

〔２：CC/PP 未対応端末からのリクエストがあった場合〕
2-1. クライアント装置300 を利用するCC/PP 未対応端末200An が、クライアント装置300 にHTTPを用いてリクエストを送信する( 図１の(1))。この場合はリクエストには、HTTPヘッダに、User-Agent情報と、CC/PP 記述相当の端末情報が含まれているが、Profile ヘッダは含まれていない。このような場合のHTTPヘッダの例を図４で示す。

2-2. 端末200An からHTTPリクエストを受信したクライアント装置300 は、端末200An から受信したHTTPヘッダ内にProfile ヘッダが含まれていないので、CC/PP を得るために、CC/PP 選択装置400 に対してHTTPヘッダを送信する(2) 。CC/PP 選択装置内のCC/PP 選択部401 が受信したHTTPヘッダには、既述したようにUser-Agent情報と、CC/PP 記述相当の端末情報が含まれている。

2-3. CC/PP 選択部401 では、システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 に、HTTPヘッダ内のUser-Agent情報を送信して、システム管理者が作成したCC/PP 記述があるかどうか問い合わせる(3) 。
2-4. システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 は、システム管理者が作成したCC/PP 記述が存在した場合にはそのCC/PP 記述をCC/PP 選択部401 に送信する(4) 。存在しなかった場合には、システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース401 は、存在しなかった旨の情報をCC/PP 選択部401 に送信する(4) 。

2-5. CC/PP 選択部401 では、システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 からCC/PP 記述を受信した場合には、受信したCC/PP 記述をクライアント装置300 に返却する(9) 。

2-6. あるいは、システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 からCC/PP 記述が存在しなかったという情報を受信した場合には、CC/PP 選択部401 は、HTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目マッピングデータベース403 にUser-Agent情報を送信し、そのUser-Agent情報をキーとするテーブルが存在するかどうか問い合わせる(5) 。

2-7. HTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目マッピングデータベース403 では、受信したUser-Agent情報をキーとするテーブルがある場合にはそれをCC/PP 選択部401 に送信する(6) 。テーブルがない場合には、テーブルがない旨の情報を送信する(6) 。

2-8. CC/PP 選択部401 では、テーブルを受信した場合には受信したテーブルに基づき、HTTPヘッダからCC/PP 記述を生成する処理を行い、生成したCC/PP 記述をクライアント装置に返却する(9) 。一方、テーブルがないという情報を受信したときは、CC/PP 選択装置401 は、デフォルトのCC/PP 記述404 を読み込み(7),(8) 、クライアント装置300 に返却する(9) 。クライアント装置300 は、Profile ヘッダフィールドの値(URI) に基づき、所望のCC/PP 記述を取得、または、HTTPヘッダ内のProfile-Diffヘッダフィールドの値として送信されたCC/PP 記述を外部ネットワークから取得して（図１[2],[3] ）所定のコンテンツ変換を行い、変換後のコンテンツをCC/PP 対応端末200An に送信する（図１の[4] ）。

このように、CC/PP 選択装置400 では、クライアント装置から送信されるHTTPヘッダの内容に応じて、異なる動作をする。実施例のCC/PP 選択装置400 での上述した処理等を、図５に示すCC/PP 選択部401で行う処理等の概略を示すフローチャートを参照して説明する。

端末がクライアント装置300 にHTTPを用いてリクエストを送信する。クライアント装置300 は、リクエストを受信し(P1)、ヘッダにProfile ヘッダが含まれているかを判定する(P2)。Profile ヘッダが含まれている場合(P2;YES)にはクライアント装置300 は、リクエストのHTTPヘッダ内のProfile ヘッダフィールドの値(URI) に基づきインターネット等の外部ネットワークにリクエストを送信し、相手先から所望のCC/PP 記述またはHTTPヘッダ内のProfile-Diffヘッダフィールドの値として送信されたCC/PP 記述を取得を取得する（P13:図１[2],[3] ）。そして必要に応じて所定のコンテンツ変換を行い変換後のコンテンツを要求元端末に送信する(P14)。

また、クライアント装置300 は、HTTPヘッダにProfile ヘッダは含まれていない場合は(P2;NO)、CC/PP 選択装置400 に対してHTTPヘッダを送信する(P4)。CC/PP 選択部401 では、システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 に、HTTPヘッダ内のUser-Agent情報を送信する（図１の(3) ）。システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 は、システム管理者が作成したCC/PP 記述があるかどうかを判定する(P5)。システム管理者が作成したCC/PP 記述があれば(P5;YES)、このCC/PP 記述を取得し(P6)、取得したCC/PP 記述をクライアント装置300 に返送する(P12)。システム管理者が作成したCC/PP 記述がなければ(P5;NO)、存在しなかった旨の情報をCC/PP 選択部401 に送信する（図１の(4) ）。

CC/PP 選択部401 では、システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 からCC/PP 記述を受信した場合(P6)には、受信したCC/PP 記述をクライアント装置300 に返却する(P12:図１の(9)）。システム管理者作成CC/PP データベース402 からCC/PP 記述が存在しなかったという情報を受信した場合には、CC/PP 選択部401 は、HTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目マッピングデータベース403 にUser-Agent情報を送信し(P7)、そのUser-Agent情報をキーとするテーブルが存在するかどうか問い合わせる(図１(5))。

HTTPヘッダ-CC/PP項目マッピングデータベース403 では、受信したUser-Agent情報を元にCC/PP 記述を作成できるか否かを判定する。すなわち、受信したUser-Agent情報をキーとするテーブルがあるかを調べて(P8)、ある場合には(YES)そのテーブル（HTTPリクエストヘッダ名とCC/PP 記述内の項目との対応) をCC/PP 選択部401 に送信する(P9:図１(6))。テーブルがない場合には、テーブルがない旨の情報を送信する(図１(6))。

CC/PP 選択部401 では、テーブルを受信した場合には受信したテーブルに基づき、HTTPヘッダからCC/PP 記述を生成する処理を行い(P10)、生成したCC/PP 記述をクライアント装置に返却する（(P12)：図１の(9) ）。一方、テーブルがないという情報を受信したときは(P8;NO)、CC/PP 選択装置401 はデフォルトのCC/PP 記述404 を読み込み（(P11)：図１の(7),(8) ）、クライアント装置300 に返却する（(P12)：図１の(9) ）。

2-9. クライアント装置300 では、上述したCC/PP 選択装置400 の動作により受信したCC/PP 記述を用いて、所定のコンテンツ変換を行い、外部ネットワークにリクエストを送信する(P13)。そして受信したコンテンツを変換し変換後のコンテンツをCC/PP 未対応端末200An に送信する（(P14)：図１の(10)）。

以上の実施例の動作で示したように、CC/PP 選択部401 は、クライアント装置( この例ではコンテンツ変換システム) 300 から送信されるHTTPヘッダの内容に応じて、異なる動作をする。

上述実施例によれば、CC/PP 未対応端末のCC/PP 記述を送受信できるという効果が得られる。その理由は、システム管理者が端末毎のCC/PP 記述を用意、または、端末のHTTPヘッダからCC/PP 記述を生成してシステムで利用できるように設定することができるからである。

本実施例のもう一つの効果として、CC/PP 記述を利用する装置に対し、個々にCC/PP 未対応の端末に関する処理を追加する必要がなくなることが挙げられる。その理由は、CC/PP 未対応端末のCC/PP 記述をコンテンツ変換システムで一括して自動生成するようにしているからである。

本発明は、上記実施例に限定されることなく異なった形態で実施することができる。例えば、実施例ではデフォルトのCC/PP 記述は単一としたが、端末のカテゴリ毎に対応した適切なものを複数用意するようにしても良く、このようにすればより細かで適切な処理制御ができるようになる。

また、CC/PP 対応端末を用いる場合でも、端末のベンダが用意したリクエストの際のCC/PP 記述に不足や誤りがあると分かっているような場合に対処することができ、完全なCC/PP 記述をシステム管理者が予め用意しておき、それを使用することでCC/PP 対応端末を補完することもできる。

実施例として挙げたように、クライアント装置（コンテンツ変換システム）と別体にCC/PP 選択装置を設けても良いが、クライアント装置において、実施例同様のCC/PP 選択装置を備えて使用する構成とすることもできる。

また、CC/PP 選択システムを、端末とクライアント装置（CC/PP を利用するシステム）に設置し、プロキシとして処理させることが可能である。

【発明の効果】
本発明の効果は、CC/PP 未対応端末のCC/PP 記述を送信できることにある。その理由は、CC/PP 選択装置部分にてシステム管理者が端末毎のCC/PP 記述を用意、または、端末のHTTPヘッダからCC/PP 記述を生成してシステムで利用できるように設定できるためである。また、本発明では、CC/PP 記述を利用する個々の装置に対し、CC/PP 未対応の端末に関する処理を追加する必要がなくなる効果も得られる。その理由は、CC/PP 選択装置部分でCC/PP 未対応端末のCC/PP 記述を自動生成することができるためである。
