Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an IC card and a terminal device that can be suitably connected to a portable terminal device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Currently, IC cards have been used for various purposes such as electronic payments, transportation, medical care, distribution, and the like, and applications have been developed. Furthermore, in consideration of the convenience of the user, it is desired that one IC card can simultaneously download these applications and use them in each terminal device as necessary.
[0003]
In order to satisfy this requirement, multi-purpose IC cards are required to adopt high-speed I / O and a high-speed and high-performance CPU so that various information can be communicated at high speed. Is recommended. As an example of the recommended value, the CPU operating frequency is about 10 [MHz] to 20 [MHz], the CPU bit width is 16 bits or more, and the nonvolatile memory capacity is 4 Mbit to 8 Mbit or more.
[0004]
Here, for example, in the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 7816 standard (hereinafter referred to simply as the ISO standard), the frequency of the external clock signal input to the IC card is set to 4.91 [MHz]. . Therefore, in order to increase the CPU speed, it is necessary to multiply the external clock signal by a predetermined magnification in the IC card to generate a higher-speed internal clock signal.
[0005]
On the other hand, the IC card is assumed to be used in various terminal devices. For example, not only a stationary terminal device installed at a predetermined place but also a mobile phone so that information on the IC card can be quickly confirmed. Possible battery-driven terminal devices are also widely used.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, if the frequency of the internal clock signal is set high on the premise that it is used in a stationary terminal device, power consumption increases, and the operating time of the portable terminal device is remarkably shortened. There is a possibility that it may not be usable because it exceeds the power consumption assumed in the above.
[0007]
Specifically, in the high-performance IC card as described above, the peak current consumption reaches, for example, about 100 [mA]. However, for example, a primary lithium battery is usually used for a portable terminal. In the battery to be used, the recommended load instantaneous current value is about 25 [mA]. Therefore, the IC card cannot be used with a portable terminal device.
[0008]
On the other hand, if the frequency of the internal clock signal of the IC card is set low assuming that it is used with a portable IC card, the response speed of the IC card is lowered in the stationary terminal device.
[0009]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object thereof includes an IC card that can be suitably used in a terminal device with limited power consumption, such as a battery-driven type, and a terminal device. The purpose is to realize an IC card system.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, an IC card according to the present invention has an internal clock generating means for generating an internal clock signal, and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal, and an external terminal In an IC card operable by receiving power supply from a device, a communication unit that communicates with the terminal device, a detection unit that detects a type of the terminal device, and the internal clock according to a detection result of the detection unit Control means for changing the frequency of the signal, the detection means, In an initial period before the communication means returns an initial response when connected to the terminal device, Data signal given from the terminal device via the communication means Based on the high / low level of the data or based on the data string transmitted by the data signal The type of the terminal device is detected.
[0011]
In the above configuration, when the IC card is connected to the terminal device, the detection unit determines the type of the connected terminal device, and the control unit changes the frequency of the internal clock signal generated by the internal clock signal generation unit. To do. Thereby, the arithmetic processing unit is driven by the internal clock signal, and power corresponding to the frequency of the internal clock signal is consumed.
[0012]
Further, the control means can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card, and even when connected to any type of terminal device, A good balance between the operating time and the speed of the IC card can be maintained. Therefore, for example, a stationary type IC card in a terminal device with a strict power consumption limit, such as a battery-driven terminal device, does not hinder high-speed operation of the IC card in a terminal device with a gradual power limit. Power consumption can be reduced and the operating time of the terminal device can be extended.
[0013]
In order to solve the above-described problem, the IC card according to the present invention includes an internal clock generation unit that generates an internal clock signal, and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal. In the IC card operable by receiving power supply from the terminal device, the communication means for communicating with the terminal device, the detection means for detecting the type of the terminal device, and the detection result of the detection means, Control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal, the detection means, In an initial period before the communication means returns an initial response when connected to the terminal device, Whether the terminal device is battery-powered or not is detected based on whether the value of a signal given from the terminal device via the communication means is at a high level, and the control means is not battery-powered when battery-powered Compared to the above, the frequency of the internal clock signal is set low.
[0014]
According to this configuration, the internal clock signal of the battery-driven terminal device is set to have a frequency lower than that of the terminal device that is not battery-driven, so that the processing speed of the IC card in the battery-driven terminal device is sacrificed. In addition, the operating time of the battery-driven terminal device can be extended.
[0015]
In order to solve the above-described problem, the IC card according to the present invention includes an internal clock generation unit that generates an internal clock signal, and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal. Detecting means for detecting the type of the terminal device and control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal in accordance with the detection result of the detecting means in an IC card operable by receiving power supply from the terminal device And the detecting means includes Through the contact terminal with the terminal device, The terminal device Than Supply to IC card Be done The power supply voltage level is detected, and the type of the terminal device is detected according to the detection result.
[0016]
According to the said structure, a detection means detects the classification of a terminal device. As a result, the frequency of the internal clock signal can be adjusted to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card.
[0017]
In order to solve the above-described problem, the IC card according to the present invention includes an internal clock generation unit that generates an internal clock signal, and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal. Detecting means for detecting the type of the terminal device and control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal in accordance with the detection result of the detecting means in an IC card operable by receiving power supply from the terminal device And a nonvolatile memory capable of writing data when the voltage level of the write voltage instructed from the terminal device is a write level, The write voltage is input through a contact terminal with the terminal device, The detecting means detects the level of the write voltage and detects the type of the terminal device based on the detected write voltage level.
[0018]
According to this configuration, the detection unit detects the type of the terminal device based on the voltage level of the write voltage. As a result, the frequency of the internal clock signal can be adjusted to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card.
[0019]
In addition to the above configuration, in the IC card according to the present invention, the internal clock generating means multiplies the external clock signal supplied from the terminal device to generate the internal clock signal (PLL). Circuit).
[0020]
According to this configuration, the PLL circuit multiplies the external clock signal supplied from the terminal device to generate the internal clock signal. Therefore, for example, in a terminal device such as a stationary type, it is possible to increase the frequency of the internal clock signal and increase the processing speed of the IC card without changing the external clock signal similar to the conventional one. Further, in a battery-driven terminal device or the like, the operation time can be extended. Thus, the operating time of the terminal device and the speed of the IC card can be obtained regardless of the type of terminal device connected to the terminal device without changing the external clock signal of the terminal device requiring high-speed processing. And a good balance can be maintained.
[0021]
In addition to the above-described components, in the IC card according to the present invention, the detection unit detects the type of the terminal device, and the control unit changes the frequency of the internal clock signal. The communication means for communicating with the device is preferably in the initial period before returning the initial response when connected to the terminal device.
[0022]
According to the said structure, a detection means detects the classification of a terminal device before an initial response. Therefore, it is possible to determine the type of the terminal device at an earlier time than after the initial response, and the control means can determine the frequency of the internal clock signal from an earlier time to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card. Can be adjusted. As a result, it is possible to shorten the period for which an inappropriate value is set, and to suppress an increase in response time or an operation time due to an inappropriate setting.
[0023]
On the other hand, a terminal device according to the present invention includes a communication unit that communicates with a connected terminal device, an internal clock generation unit that generates an internal clock signal, an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal, In an initial period before the communication means returns an initial response when connected to the terminal device, Based on a signal received by the communication means, power as a power source is supplied to an IC card having detection means for detecting the type of the terminal device and control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal according to the detection result. Power supply means to supply; terminal side communication means capable of communicating with the communication means; During the above initial period, And a terminal-side control unit that causes the terminal-side communication unit to output a signal indicating the type of the terminal device.
[0024]
According to the above configuration, the terminal-side communication means of the terminal device notifies its own type as a signal to be given to the IC card communication means. Thereby, the control means of the IC card can notify information for setting an appropriate frequency of the internal clock signal. As a result, the IC card can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card.
[0025]
The terminal device according to the present invention is A communication means for communicating with a connected terminal; An internal clock generating means for generating an internal clock signal, an arithmetic processing unit operating at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal, In an initial period before the communication means returns an initial response when connected to the terminal device, The terminal device But Detection means for detecting the level of the power supply voltage supplied to the IC card and detecting the type of the terminal device according to the detection result; and control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal according to the detection result To IC card that we have, Through the contact terminal with the IC card, Power supply means for supplying power as a power supply and terminal-side control means for setting the level of the power supply voltage supplied by the power supply means to a level indicating its own type are provided.
[0026]
According to the above configuration, the power supply unit of the terminal device notifies its type by the power supply voltage level supplied to the IC card. Thereby, the control means of the IC card can notify information for setting an appropriate frequency of the internal clock signal. As a result, the IC card can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card.
[0027]
As another suitable terminal device, the terminal device according to the present invention includes a nonvolatile memory capable of writing data when the voltage level of the write voltage is the write level, and an internal clock generating means for generating an internal clock signal. And an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency according to the internal clock signal, and a level of a voltage that the terminal device applies to the nonvolatile memory, and based on the detected voltage level, the type of the terminal device A power supply means for supplying power as a power source to an IC card having a detection means for detecting the power supply and a control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal according to the detection result; Through the contact terminal with the IC card, A writing unit for instructing a voltage level of a writing voltage of the nonvolatile memory, and a terminal-side control unit for instructing the writing unit to write a voltage for writing indicating a type of the terminal device. It is said.
[0028]
According to the above configuration, the terminal device can notify its type by the write voltage, and can notify information for the IC card control means to set an appropriate frequency of the internal clock signal. Thereby, similarly to the case of the terminal device described above, the IC card can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card.
[0029]
In addition to the above-described components, the internal clock generation means includes a phase-locked loop circuit that multiplies an external clock signal to generate the internal clock signal, and the terminal device includes the terminal External clock supply means for supplying an external clock signal having a frequency set by the side control means to the phase lock loop circuit, and the power supply voltage level supplied by the power supply means and the frequency of the external clock signal are It is desirable that the lock range of the phase lock loop circuit at the power supply voltage level is set so as to include the frequency.
[0030]
In this configuration, since both the power supply voltage level and the frequency of the external clock signal are set so that the lock range of the PLL circuit at the power supply voltage level includes the frequency, the frequency of the external clock signal is not changed. In addition, the power supply voltage level can be set lower than when only the power supply voltage level is set. As a result, the power consumption of the IC card can be further reduced, and a terminal device with a longer operating time can be realized.
[0031]
Furthermore, in each of the above-described configurations, the terminal device is preferably a battery-driven terminal device. In general, battery-powered terminal devices are more eager to reduce power consumption than stationary terminal devices because an increase in power consumption directly leads to a reduction in operating time. Therefore, a terminal device with a longer operating time can be realized by applying the above configuration to a battery-driven terminal device.

Furthermore, in the first to third embodiments, the case has been described as an example in which a binary value indicating whether the battery is driven is transmitted as the type of the terminal device, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, multiple values may be transmitted in accordance with the degree to which the terminal device requests power consumption reduction. In this case, the type is transmitted as a data string transmitted by the data signal I / O, or a plurality of voltages Vdd (Vpp) supplied by the terminal device are set, and the voltage detection unit 37a (37b) discriminates each. For example, a plurality of types of terminal devices can be identified. Further, the adjustment of the internal clock signal φ is not limited to one time, and the internal clock signal φ may be mainly adjusted before the initial response and finely adjusted after the initial response. Here, in order to reduce the power consumption of the IC card, it is better to set the power supply voltage Vdd low within a range in which the IC card can operate. Therefore, when a plurality of types of terminal devices are identified, a determination based on the data signal I / O or the write voltage Vpp is used rather than setting the power supply voltage Vdd unnecessarily high in order to distinguish it from other types. Is desirable.
[0086]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the IC card according to the present invention includes the internal clock generation unit that generates the internal clock signal and the arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal. In an IC card operable with power supply, communication means for communicating with the terminal device, detection means for detecting the type of the terminal device, and the frequency of the internal clock signal according to the detection result of the detection means Control means for changing, and the detection means, In an initial period before the communication means returns an initial response when connected to the terminal device, Data signal given from the terminal device via the communication means Based on the high / low level of the data or based on the data string transmitted by the data signal In this configuration, the type of the terminal device is detected.
[0087]
According to the above configuration, the control means can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card, and can be connected to any type of terminal device. The balance between the operating time of the terminal device and the speed of the IC card can be kept good. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the power consumption of the IC card in the terminal device whose power consumption is severely limited without hindering the high-speed operation of the IC card in the terminal device whose power consumption is loosely restricted, and to extend the operation time of the terminal device. There is an effect.
[0088]
As described above, another IC card according to the present invention includes an internal clock generation unit that generates an internal clock signal and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal, and an external terminal device. In an IC card operable by receiving power from the communication device, communication means for communicating with the terminal device, detection means for detecting the type of the terminal device, and the internal clock signal according to the detection result of the detection means Control means for changing the frequency of the above, and the detection means, Whether the terminal device is battery-operated depending on whether or not the value of the signal given from the terminal device via the communication means is high during an initial period before the communication device returns an initial response when connected to the terminal device. The control means sets the frequency of the internal clock signal to be lower in the case of battery drive than in the case of battery drive. It is a configuration.
[0089]
According to this configuration, the internal clock signal of the battery-driven terminal device is set to have a frequency lower than that of the terminal device that is not battery-driven, so that the processing speed of the IC card in the battery-driven terminal device is sacrificed. In addition, the operation time of the battery-driven terminal device can be extended.
[0090]
As described above, another IC card according to the present invention includes an internal clock generating unit that generates an internal clock signal and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal. In an IC card operable by receiving power supply from the device, a detecting means for detecting the type of the terminal device, and a control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal according to the detection result of the detecting means The detection means comprises: Through the contact terminal with the terminal device, The terminal device Than Supply to IC card Be done In this configuration, the level of the power supply voltage is detected, and the type of the terminal device is detected according to the detection result.
[0091]
As described above, another IC card according to the present invention includes an internal clock generating unit that generates an internal clock signal and an arithmetic processing unit that operates at a frequency corresponding to the internal clock signal. In an IC card operable by receiving power supply from the device, a detecting means for detecting the type of the terminal device, a control means for changing the frequency of the internal clock signal according to a detection result of the detecting means, A nonvolatile memory capable of writing data when the voltage level of the write voltage instructed from the terminal device is a write level, and The write voltage is input through a contact terminal with the terminal device, The detection means is configured to detect the level of the write voltage and detect the type of the terminal device based on the detected write voltage level.
[0092]
Even with these configurations, the control means can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card, and even when connected to any type of terminal device.
[0093]
As described above, the IC card according to the present invention is a PLL circuit that generates the internal clock signal by multiplying the external clock signal supplied from the terminal device, in addition to the above configuration. It is a certain configuration.
[0094]
According to this configuration, the PLL circuit multiplies the external clock signal supplied from the terminal device to generate the internal clock signal, so that without changing the external clock signal of the terminal device that requires high-speed processing, Even when an IC card is connected to a terminal device of this type, the balance between the operating time of the terminal device and the speed of the IC card can be kept good.
[0095]
As described above, in the IC card according to the present invention, in addition to the above configuration, the detection unit detects the type of the terminal device, and the control unit changes the frequency of the internal clock signal. The communication means for communicating with the terminal device is an initial period before returning an initial response when connected to the terminal device.
[0096]
According to these configurations, the type of the terminal device can be determined at an earlier time point than after the initial response, and the control unit can obtain an optimal value corresponding to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card from an earlier time point. The frequency of the internal clock signal can be adjusted. As a result, it is possible to shorten the period during which the value is set to an inappropriate value, and to suppress an increase in response time or an operation time due to the inappropriate setting.
[0097]
As described above, the terminal device according to the present invention includes a detection unit that detects the type of the terminal device based on a signal received by the communication unit during the initial period, and a control unit that changes the frequency of the internal clock signal according to the detection result. Is a terminal device that can be connected to an IC card provided with a terminal-side control means for causing the terminal-side communication means to output a signal indicating the type of the terminal device during the initial period. .
[0098]
According to the above configuration, the terminal device can notify the information for the IC card control means to set an appropriate frequency of the internal clock signal. As a result, the IC card can adjust the frequency of the internal clock signal to an optimum value according to the combination of the terminal device and the IC card, and can extend the response time or the operation time due to inappropriate settings. There is an effect that it can be suppressed.
[0099]
