【0001】

[Technical field to which the invention belongs]
The present invention relates to a recording apparatus that performs printing on a recording medium while receiving ink supplied from a replaceable ink cartridge and discharging ink droplets from nozzle openings.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, an inkjet recording apparatus supplies a drive signal corresponding to print data to a piezoelectric vibrator, a heating means, etc., pressurizes ink with energy generated by the piezoelectric vibrator, a heating means, etc., and drops ink droplets from nozzle openings. A recording head to be ejected and an ink cartridge containing ink for supplying ink to the recording head are provided.
Such an ink cartridge is configured in a very similar shape between the recording apparatuses, and an electrically rewritable semiconductor storage means is provided in order to prevent a consumer from accidentally mounting a cartridge for a different model. In addition to the serial number, the remaining amount of ink or the amount of ink consumed by the recording device is used to cope with changes in the version of the ink amount per drop due to the data for determining the compatible model in addition to the serial number and improving the ink quality. And the amount of ink in the ink cartridge can be managed accurately.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, there is a recording apparatus of a type that manages the ink amount of the ink cartridge by attaching the recording head to the carriage in a semi-fixed state and calculating the ink consumption amount from the printing amount or the suction amount at the time of maintenance by replacing the ink cartridge. Thus, if the data regarding the ink amount stored in the ink cartridge is lost, the ink end cannot be detected.
If ink is consumed by printing or cleaning in such a state, the recording head becomes idle, or a large amount of air flows into the recording head, making printing impossible.
In order to discharge a large amount of air that has flowed into the recording head, an operation of passing an extremely large amount of ink through the recording head and discharging the air by the ink flow is required, resulting in a large amount of ink consumption.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an ink jet recording apparatus capable of reliably managing the remaining amount of ink in an ink cartridge.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve such a problem, the invention of
Thereby , even when the ink cartridge is remounted, the ink remaining operation can be managed more accurately and the ink consumption operation such as printing can be executed.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, an inkjet recording head and an electrically rewritable storage means storing at least identification data for specifying an ink cartridge and data relating to the remaining amount of ink are attached, and ink is supplied to the inkjet recording head. An ink jet recording apparatus comprising an ink cartridge and control means for controlling the recording head in response to print data, further comprising cartridge data storage means for storing identification data of the ink cartridge and data relating to the remaining amount of ink, The control means stores data related to the remaining amount of ink stored in the storage means of the ink cartridge currently mounted immediately after power-on or replacement of the ink cartridge, and stored in the cartridge data storage means. Last time Comparing the data relating to off before or the remaining amount of ink in the ink cartridge has been mounted before the replacement of the ink cartridge, stored it does not match the identification data of the ink cartridge in the storage unit to the cartridge data storing means If the identification data match with each other as a result of the comparison, the data relating to the remaining amount of ink on the other side is corrected based on the data with the smaller amount of remaining ink. Yes.
This ensures that even if any other recording apparatus remounted after the ink of the ink cartridge is consumed, the ink remaining amount can be prevented accurately manage to air flowing into the recording head.
[0005]
[Action]
Even if the data related to the remaining amount of ink stored in the storage means attached to the ink cartridge is lost, the data related to the remaining amount of ink stored in the recording device main body is transferred to the ink cartridge when the power is turned on or the ink cartridge is replaced. Prevents ink consumption in the empty state.
