Esistono macchine operatrici per la pulizia dei pavimenti, macchine per il lavaggio e l'asciugatura dei pavimenti, macchine per la lucidatura dei pavimenti. There are operating machines for cleaning floors, machines for washing and drying floors, machines for polishing floors.

Vengono normalmente utilizzate macchine con spazzole a uno o più rulli orizzontali per la pulizia dalla sporcizia solida e successivamente macchine con spazzole a rulli o a dischi per il lavaggio e l'asciugatura. L’acqua contenuta tra la prima e la seconda lama viene quindi aspirata da una bocchetta centrale collegata ad un aspiratore e posta sul corpo del supporto stesso.
