Abstract

The present subject matter relates to method for determining a fresh air mass flow to control an exhaust gas recirculation in an suction pipe (12) of a self-igniting internal combustion engine (2), comprising the steps of detecting a pressure drop measured value over a flow resistance with a pressure sensor (22) disposed in a flow direction (S) after the flow resistance, and determining the fresh air mass flow using the pressure drop measured value.
