Abstract

986,436. Animal feeding appliances. GILBERTSON & PAGE Ltd. Oct. 25, 1963 [Oct. 26, 1962], No. 40526/62. Heading A1M. A food distributing hopper comprises a container 10 and a part 11 tapering to an outlet 12 the effective size of which is determined by a washer 15 through the aperture of which passes a rod 16 carrying a platform 20 agitated by a bird to release a quantity of food, the washer 15 being readily changed for one of a different size aperture. The upper end of the rod 16 is hooked on to a horizontal bar 17 the ends of which are received in sockets 18, 19. The hopper is suspended from above by means of rod 14 and is provided with a lid 13. In a modification the bar 17 is located within the part 10 and its ends are received in sockets located in the part 10, a frustroconical washer being provided in this case. The bar 17 may be resiliently mounted or be inherently resilient so that the rod 16 moves up and down as well as to-and-fro.
