952,276. Coffee-making machines. P. E. JANNIN. Oct. 25, 1962 [Oct. 31, 1961], No. 40494/62. Heading A4D. In a coffee-making machine, hub 21 rotates about the shaft of a driving motor 16 and carries four filter holders in turn beneath each of four processing stations of the machine. When the machine is started by a coin freed arrangement, the processes of supplying a holder with coffee grains, tamping the grains by means of an electromagnetically operated plunger 89, at B, percolating the grains with hot water, at C, and washing out the spent grains by means of a sprinkler rose 121, at D, are carried out simultaneously on each filter holder. The coin momentarily closes a motor starting switch and the shaft of motor 16 begins to perform a single revolution, during the first part of which hub 21 is keyed by downward movement for rotation with the shaft for a quarter turn thereof and, thereafter, is allowed to rise under spring action to disengage from the shaft. Each filter holder is thus moved to the adjacent processing station and the remainder of the revolution of the motor shaft operates switching cams to bring about the four processes. In the percolating station a cam operated finger 105 presses the holder into liquid tight engagement with the boiler 101 and the boiler valve 102 is operated twice. The first flow of water moistens the grains and is followed by a pause which allows them to swell. The second flow produces a cup of coffee and can be prolonged by means of a pushbutton control. Syrup is simultaneously supplied from tank 132.
