Programme popularity signals from separate groups of receiving equipments, each group having a circuit generating a signal indicating the number of equipments receiving a particular programme, are transmitted to a common location where they establish a display. The invention is part of the distribution system described in Specification 893,474, where signals indicating the number of equipments connected to programmes A and B are transmitted by frequency modulation over telephone lines from each group to the common location where they establish displays for each group or, in the event of groups having the same programme, establish a display of popularity for the groups combined.
