707,030. Multiplex systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 9, 1952 [April 12, 1951], No. 9079/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (4) A single sideband carrier multiplex telephone system has two adjacent pairs of conductors, and through each pair a group of speech channels is transmitted in the same direction, the channels of the two groups being mutually staggered in frequency, while control signals such as dialling impulses are transmitted through the phantom circuit of the two pairs. The control signals for each channel are carried by an associated control carrier current, and a plurality of the control carrier frequencies of one group are equal to speech carrier frequencies of the other group. The invention is described with reference to a system in which transmission in the manner described above take place in both directions.
