Abstract

820,683. Ventilating apparatus. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Aug. 30, 1957 [Dec. 3, 1956], No. 27462/57. Class 137 An air conditioning unit for use in multi-room buildings comprises a casing having two passages each having openings into two rooms and a duct connected to a supply of primary conditioned air and having nozzles extending into each of the passages, the nozzles in the first passage inducing air from the first room and discharging it to the second, and the nozzles in the second passage inducing air from the second room and discharging it to the first, the induced air in each case being mixed with primary conditioned air before discharge. As shown, a casing 41 arranged between two rooms 75, 76 has a partition 89 dividing it into two passages 82, 83. A duct 81 connected to a source of primary conditioned air, has nozzles 91 in the passage 82 and nozzles 93 in the passage 83. The nozzles 91 induce air from room 75 through louvres 85 and a heat exchanger 90 and discharge it through a venturi 92 and louvres 86 into room 76. The nozzles 93 induce air from room 76 and discharge it through louvres 88 into room 75, a thermo-sensitive bulb 98 in the passage 83 controlling the amount of fluid passing through the heat exchanger 90. Some of the air from room 75 may pass through louvres 78 in a door 77 to a corridor 79. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the unit is erected adjacent a structural member and the duct may be circular in section. A number of units in series may be served by a single duct. Specification 809,904 is referred to.
