Abstract

819,994. Diathermy apparatus. COX Ltd., S. Sept. 16, 1957 [July 18, 1956], No. 22276/56. Class 81 (2). In diathermy apparatus for coagulation purposes, the electrodes are connected to form part of the oscillator feed-back circuit, so that the variation in the output load, as coagulation proceeds, does not interfere with the operation of the apparatus. In the form described, a triode 1 is connected as a modified Hartley oscillator with its tuned circuit 3, 4 connected through a coupling condenser 9 and inductance 10, providing the effect of a high impedance source of oscillations, to a tuned circuit 11, 12 across which the electrodes are coupled by means of coaxial cable 13, 14. Thus the tapping on oscillator coil 3 is connected to the cathode through the patient's electrodes.
