Abstract

807,129. Colour television tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 18, 1957 [Jan. 21, 1956], No. 1934/57. Class 39(1). A colour television picture tube comprising at least one electron gun, a picture screen having at least two luminescent substances arranged thereon in parallel strips, a focusing mask arrranged between the screen and a counter-electrode, is characterized in that the apertures in the mask are of general rectangular shape, the long sides of which are parallel to the luminescent strips, the ratio of the sides of the rectangle being between 4 : 3 and 40 : 1, the angles of the rectangles being rounded off by smooth curved lines which, viewed from the centres of the rectangles are concave and are at an angle of less than 20 degrees to the long rectangle sides. Suitable curves are shown in Figs. 6a. band c with radii 23, 27 and 31 respectively, the resultant spot on the picture screen being shown at 25, 29 and 33.
