728,378. Trailers ; hand trucks; road vehicle couplings; arrangement of wheels and axles; vehicle rest bars. GOVAARS, J. B. G. W. Nov. 4, 1952 [Nov. 30, 1951], No. 27715/52. Classes 103 (5), 108 (1) and 108 (2). A trailer, or other road vehicle which may be pushed by a motor vehicle, has a castor wheel 8, Fig. 1, and couplings 4 which permit relative movement between the trailer and motor vehicle only in a vertical plane, and is provided with a cranked chassis 1 and a tubular structure 18 supporting a frame 20 and a stretcher 19 on springs 21. In a modification, the structure 18 is replaced by an aluminium body. The couplings 4 are pivotable about an axis 6 on the trailer chassis and are fastened to the bumper 5 of an automobile by pins 7. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the couplings are universally jointed-to longitudinals 2, 3 and comprise jaws 31, 32, pivoted together at 33, and movable by wing nuts 35. The castor wheel, Figs. 4, 5, may be mounted on leaf springs 25 attached to a forked frame 23 pivoted on an axis 10, a shock-absorber 28 being provided, or the wheel may be similarly mounted on a vertical tube 13, Fig. 1. In another embodiment, the wheel is mounted directly in an elbowed fork attached to a hydraulic spring combined with a shockabsorber. Pivoted rest bars 17 are provided. It is stated that the trailer may be used as a wheelbarrow.
