Abstract

558,481. Look-out reflectors for vehicles. CLARKE, T. A. July 27, 1942, Nos. 10471/42 and 3500/43. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XX] An arrangement of look-out reflectors mounted on a rod d to project laterally of a vehicle comprises a principal mirror A (shown in Fig. 1 together with images as seen by the driver looking in the direction of arrow C) divided into two parts of which the upper a gives by single reflection an image of a vehicle behind and the lower b gives after prior reflection in a secondary mirror B an image of vehicles in front, the two parts a and b of mirror A being separated by an opaque strip c or other break in continuity. The parts of mirror A may be in a common mounting and separated by a shoulder, or be in mountings hinged together. In another modification, Fig. 5, the parts a and b may be separated and the mirror B hinged to the part a.
