[Class 27] Articles stored in rows; coin action, mechanicalconnection.-Articles to be vended are stored in a number of horizontal rows 4 each pressed forward against an abutment 12 by a spring drum 10 about which is wound a draw-tape 11 anchored to the abutment. For each row there is an ejector 13 carried by a lever 15 connected by a cable 17 to an arm 19 loose on a shaft 20. Over each arm 19 is a coin receptacle 21 on a common support 22, extending between a pair of arms loosely mounted at either end of the shaft 20, and connected to a draw knob 25. A coin inserted in the slot of the row of articles selected is received by the corresponding receptacle 21, and transmits the movement of the draw knob 25 to one of the arms 19 which rocks the ejector lever 15 of the row selected to raise the foremost article above the abutment 12. The thrust of the spring drum 10 then ejects the article into a common delivery passage 29. The arm 19 also rocks a pivoted locking lever 33 to permit full movement of the draw knob. A pivoted plate 30 tilts the top of the article backwardly during ejection to prevent jamming. Coin-discharging mechanism.-A coin in a receptacle 21 drives the arm 19 through a finger 27 pivoted to the arm. The finger 27 is rocked to disengage the coin when it meets a fixed abutment 28, and the coin is discharged as the arm 19 returns.
