Delivery of articles stored in piles; coin action, mechanical-connection and thrust.-The delivery drawer e for sweetmeats &c., when pulled, rotates by means of a chain f a coin carrier disc m mounted on a spindle h, Fig. 3, and carrying a coin resting between lugs o. The coin as it is carried round engages a stud t on an arm q fixed to a spindle p from a cam k on the spindle h to allow the drawer to be opened fully. The drawer is returned by a coiled spring acting on the spindle h. To prevent the drawer from being returned fully before its contents are taken out a stop rod w engages with a notch 12 therein. The rod w is withdrawn when the next coin is inserted in the slot n. The coin is pressed past a stud 13 on a bell-crank lever u to move the lever which is pivoted on the spindle p and is connected to the rod w. A slope 16 on the drawer raises and supports the remaining articles of the pile. Coin-slit closing-devices.-When the machine is empty, a " following weight " 11 through an arm 9 rocks a pin 5 which, by engaging a cam 7, is projected across the coin slot. An extension 10 of the arm 9 actuates the lever u to withdraw the stop rod w. The weight 11 has a web 18 fitting a slot in the drawer and a toe 17 to rest on the articles. Fraud, preventing. - According to the Provisional Specification a spring stop may be fitted to prevent the apparatus from being worked by coins attached to wires or springs.
