479,922. Electromagnetic compressors. STANKAU, H. E. J. S. May 9, 1936, No. 13156. Void. Convention date, May 9, 1935. [Class 8 (i)] A compressor comprises a piston 4 working in a cylinder 1 and connected by a hollow tube 7 with a piston 6 of smaller diameter working in a cylinder 3 ; the pistons 4, 6 are provided with non-return valves 13, 16 respectively, and the cylinders 1, 3 with suction and delivery valves 12, 15 respectively. The tube 7 carries the armature 5 of an electromagnet, the winding 22 of which surrounds the cylinder 2 which is interposed between the cylinders 1, 3 ; buffer springs 17, 18 are provided. The pistons 4, 6 have a conical cavity and projection respectively. The cylinder 1 communicates with an evaporator, and the cylinder 3 with a condenser coil 19 surrounding the cylinder 1 and leading to a reservoir for refrigerant. The cylinders 1, 3 are provided with cooling ribs 8.
