Abstract

The gas filling for a flash-light lamp in which a gas reaction having an actinic effect is established by electric ignition as described in the parent Specification consists of a mixture of carbon disulphide and nitric oxide preferably having a pressure of less than 20 cm. of mercury and in the proportions of 1 volume of carbon disulphide vapour to 7 volumes of nitric oxide. Should air leak into the lamp bulb its presence will be shown visually by the gas filling assuming a reddish brown colour indicating the formation of nitrogen dioxide.
