360,339. Electric ceiling lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent-Treuhand-Ges. fur Elektrische Gliihlampen ; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin.) April 14, 1931, No. 11064. Convention date, May 16, 1930. [Class 75 (iv).] An electric lamp for operating on ordinary line voltages comprises a ceiling box having a frosted glass or like translucent lower part 2 containing one or more incandescent lamp bulbs 3 and a metal or like opaque upper part 1 containing the heating, starting and regulating apparatus for one or more luminous discharge tubes 4 provided with hot electrodes. As shown'in Fig. 3, the electrode containers also may be accommodated within the opaque part 1. The tubes 4 may contain a gas such as neon, helium, argon, nitrogen or carbonic acid, a vapour such as sodium, mercury or cadmium (the latter two for daylight effects), or a mixture of gas and vapour. The bulbs 3 and the part 2 may be coloured or, together with the tubes 4, made of glass that is transparent to ultra-violet rays..
