Abstract

350,445. Colouring surfaces of tiles, bricks, &c. DOUGHTY, H. E., The Elms, Staunton, near Coleford, Gloucestershire. March 8, 1930, Nos. 7629 and 9897. Drawings to Specification. [Class 87 (i).] In a process for treating the surfaces of tiles, bricks, slates, asbestos, concrete, plaster, &c., the surface is moistened with water or other liquid, and powdered cement and pigments, sand, or other colouring material are applied directly in a dry state to the surface, either separately or together. The powdered material, which may be the coloured cement or cement-sand mixture produced according to Specification 280,813, [Class 22, Cements &c.], may be blown or sprayed on to the surface by compressed air from a nozzle within the container directed towards the mouth of a funnel-shaped member, adapted to receive the air blast carrying the powder and partitioned off from the main body of the container by a perforated screen; or the material may be fed into the suction side of a fan, the discharge side of which is connected to a sprayer ; or the tiles &c. may be carried in a moistened state beneath one or more sieve-bottomed containers for the powdered material. The surface may be further roughened by means of a wire comb. Specification 345,617 also is referred to.
