Abstract

325,629. Forster, A. C. Dec. 13, 1928. Vacuum closures; sealing-devices for stoppers and other closures.-A transparent glass &c. container for holding perishable substances comprises a horizontal face or seat 4 in the mouth immediately outside the upper angle of the neck of the container, a packing ring 5 on the face, a flange 3 projecting up from the outside of the face and forming the outside of the mouth of the container, a disc stopper 6 held on to the packing ring by vacuum in the container and substantially flush with the container mouth, and a gap or recess (not shown) in the flange for the entrance of an instrument for breaking the vacuum. The container may be sealed by a paper band 8 which is stuck to the upper surface of the disc and the top and side of the lip 2 of the container. The two ends of the strip overlap with one another and with the end of a transverse, strip 10 integral with the band 8.
