Abstract
An electrical switch can be switched on and off by means of coded signal, either by word or numbers, using the mobile telephone network selected. If the switch is mounted within the motor vehicle's computer system it would break the ignition circuit and cause the motor to stop and thus stop the vehicle engine from propelling the vehicle. Included in the system is a warning unit informing occupants that the vehicle engine will stop, eg in 30 seconds. The unit can also be tracked whether the engine is running or not.
Description
<p>MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY UNIT</p>
<p>DESCRIPTION</p>
<p>An electrical switch mounted onto a motor vehicle ignition system, either at the factory or as an after purchase. The circuit is activated and de-activated by means of satellite mobile phone network by means of a code.</p>
<p>When this switch is de-activated it will break the ignition system completely and cause the engine to stop and thus bring the vehicle to a halt due to lack of drive. It can also be activated or dc-activated without the engine running.</p>
<p>The particular problem this will solve is cutting down car crime Ic: stolen vehicles, joy riders also as Police services can with co-operation from DVLA and mobile network access vehicle detailing and call through to dc-activate the ignition system.</p>
<p>The changing of licence plates may delay the vehicle being identified, but as soon as it is reported stolen, the code is activated unless a complete strip-down of the ignition system is undertaken by the thieves the vehicle will not start.</p>
<p>This unit also allows it to be tracked even if the engine is not running. (I)</p>
