1529985 Wired broadcasting COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd 9 June 1977 [5 Aug 1976] 32592/76 Heading H4R In a wired broadcasting system a plurality of stereophonic sound programme signals are transmitted on a single channel as frequency modulation of different frequency carriers each of which is an integral multiple of the stereophonic subcarrier frequency. As described the subcarrier frequency is 38 kHz and the carrier frequencies are selected such that the sum of any two carrier frequencies is different from any other carrier frequency, that no carrier frequency is twice any other carrier frequency, and that the frequency spacings between any two adjacent carrier frequencies is different from that of any other two. Tables to enable choice of carrier frequency are described. The arrangement allows a number of stereo sound programmes to be transmitted in a channel which would otherwise carry a TV programme.
